Residency: Greywood Arts

I’m thrilled to have been selected to take part in the Greywood Arts Family Residency this summer. The opportunity supports parenting artists by providing free accommodation and studio space for a week.

We’ll stay in their gorgeous farmhouse in Killeagh, east Cork, where I will enjoy some time to write while my seven-year-old takes part in their Art Camp and her big sister makes progress with her graphic novel. Coincidentally, my maternal grandparents used to holiday in nearby Shanagarry with my mother, uncle and aunt in the 1960s. We will enjoy exploring some of their old haunts including beautiful Ballycotton Bay, pictured above.

Residency: Greywood Arts

It will be a huge privilege to become part of the growing roster of multidisciplinary artists associated with Greywood Arts. Since 2017, founders Jessica Bonenfant and Hughie Coogan have hosted over 300 artists and recent alumnus include the poet and novelist Doireann Ni Ghriofa, writer and radio producer Frances Byrnes and filmmaker Kirsten Sheridan.

The Family Residency is just one of a range of fabulous opportunities provided by Greywood Arts to support local and visiting artists at all stages of their careers. My daughters and I can’t wait to be a part of their community this coming July.

The Greywood Arts Family Residency is supported by the Parent Peer Support Fund from the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth.
